What to Unlock First in Smash the City

Prerequisites

Choose what you want to change first: your tool, your city, or neither. Spending Coins now leaves less for your existing target.

What you get from this page: a purpose, a price, and the sentence "if I buy this, my other goal moves back by X".

The four branches

Purpose Typical choice Cost Buying this delays
Play differently now Cluster Bomb, then a bigger tool 2,000 → 30,000–50,000 Coins Any city you were saving for
Change the scenery VI City and up 10,000–70,000 Coins A tool at the same price
Remove waiting No cooldown or Extra time control 799 or 199 Robux Nothing in Coins
Skip the farm Coin packs, Starter Pack 49–899 Robux Nothing, but it spends real money

What changes between them

A tool changes what you do every run. A city changes where you do it. No controlled comparison shows that a new city pays more per minute, so do not buy one expecting faster income.

A pass changes a rule — cooldown, slider limits, time control, or a coin multiplier — and the official text does not describe the limits. No cooldown is 799 Robux; Skip Cooldown is a separate 19-Robux one-off.

Two routes at 5,000 Coins

Route Step 1 Balance Step 2 Balance
Straight to VI City (10,000) Save 5,000 5,000 Save 5,000 more 10,000 → buy
Cluster Bomb first Buy at 2,000 3,000 Save 7,000 more 10,000 → buy

Both routes end with the city. The second also ends with the tool, but it took longer and assumes the tool does not change your income. The page does not claim it does.

Branch by branch

Keep saving

  1. Leave the balance untouched for one full run.
  2. Note the repeatable income from that run.
  3. Compare it with the price of your target.

Choose it when your target is within a few runs, or when you only want a new city.

Buy a tool

  1. Pick the effect you want: scatter, area, or hands-on.
  2. Check the price on the tool tile and in the purchase frame.
  3. Run the same city three times before and after, and record the balance.

Choose it when you are bored of the current effect, not because a page promised faster Coins.

Unlock a city

  1. Open the city's unlock box and read the live requirement.
  2. Compare it with the reported price in the maps table.
  3. Decide whether the new layout is worth delaying the tool.

Buy a Robux item

  1. Decide which category you need: a weapon, a rule change, or a one-off effect.
  2. Read the pass or product entry and its price.
  3. Check what the effect covers; if it is not documented, assume it might not cover your case.

Warning: The reported city prices and the Robux list change with updates. Read the live unlock box before spending.

When to change the plan

  • A code drops and your balance jumps.
  • The live price differs from the table.
  • You already own a tool in the same category.
  • Your own three-run test shows a different result.

What comes next: take your recorded run income to the Coin Planner and compare the two routes with your own number.
